In October 2005, John and Diane Curtis purchased the building at 106 W. Grand Avenue. This wasn’t the first time. They had owned and occupied the same building 30 years earlier and knew first hand how much the upstairs loft apartment had been "remuddled".  In an effort to modernize, the ceilings had been lowered and the original wood work was mixed with ugly 1x6 lumber. 
During your visit, you will see an apartment that has been restored with original woodwork in the living room and dining room, including the 98-inch high front windows.  Ceilings are 12ft high and a skylight in the kitchen was been exposed.  These renovations are an example of loft living available in the downtown area of Eau Claire.
